Wrap up of Annual Meeting, Sunday, November 13, 2022, 4-6 PM, by Jon Kaufman

Great to see many new and familiar faces!

At the Conservancy’s annual meeting on November 13, we had a record crowd of 114 people who heard Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin and Acting Fire Chief David Sprague discuss the city’s new wildfire preparedness program financed by a voter approved $8.5 million annual parcel tax. Homeowners will need to do more to limit flammable materials near their homes. The mayor also praised the Conservancy for its leadership in developing a regional approach to wildfire prevention throughout the East Bay Hills. (Videos of the presentation are below.)

Moving Forward-Creating Vision 2042!

Did you know that until this year, essentially all the work to make the Conservancy a vital presence in Claremont Canyon was provided by volunteers? Founders, Founding Sponsors, and field volunteers all put in countless hours to further the Conservancy’s goals. CCC board member Dan Robbins spoke on his “View to 42” by introducing ways in which we are improving our communications, our goals to providing better educational programs, and how we are strengthening our stewardship efforts by cultivating the next generation of environmental stewards.
